The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information and act as a Processor and will process your personal data according to the instructions of the organisation requesting us to undertake the testing. Your name, a unique ID, date of birth, gender, type of photo ID UK National Insurance number, employment status (e.g. Sole Trader, etc),details of current medication, the reasons for the test and information relating to the test and the test results. We may require your telephone number and/or e-mail address. We may also gather demographic information such as age and gender to generate anonymised statistical information

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To enable us to carry out a drugs and alcohol test or DNA sample collection and subsequent laboratory analysis.
  • Customer records and accounting
  • Marketing

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • When persons make contact with us via electronic means, such as e-mails, website contact forms, telephone or written material
  • Details provided to us by an employer or third party in order for us to conduct drug and alcohol testing or DNA sampling.
  • We use the information that you have given us in order to:
    • Process and maintain records of tests conducted and subsequent results.
  • We may share this information with:
    • Contracted suppliers of laboratory analysis.
    • Employers
    • Donors Solicitors or legal representative

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting the Data Controller,

(b) We have a contractual obligation.

(c) We have a legitimate interest.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

We keep your name, a unique ID, date of birth, gender, and type of photo ID UK National Insurance number, employment status (e.g. Sole Trader, etc.), details of current medication, and the reasons for the test and information relating to the test and the test results. We may require your telephone number and/or e-mail address.

We will destroy all paper based and electronic records after seven years if your tests were positive for drugs or alcohol. If your tests were negative we will destroy records after 18 months. We will then dispose your information by shredding paper based records or permanently deleting electronic records.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
